Can you tell that the holiday spirit has arrived. For me, I am in a better mood than I have been lately. Maybe it is because I just celebrated my second wedding anniversary with my husband. We didn't do anything special but it is just the point that we are closer than we were when we first married on November 10, 2007. Yes, it has been a whole two years.
Anyways, I want to say Happy Thanksgiving to all of you.
I hope that everything goes well for you. For some people this is a sad time of the year only because they do not have family/friends to share it with. I beg anyone who is reading this post to call or invite someone over to your family gathering and let them experience your dysfunctional family experience with you. LOL
On a serious note, I wanted to let you know that I am doing a one time $ 100.00 giveway to a selected few of my favorite bloggers. This giveway will be ($100) split among the bloggers that I select. The only thing that I ask of those who are selected is that you reach back into your childhood home or current city and inspire/help one person to reach one of their goals. It could just be that you give them an encouraging word or some simple advice. By accepting the giveaway money you also pledge to complete at least one of your own personal goals in a 5 year time period. Please be honest with yourself. I'm counting on you.
Criteria: This giveaway is only for those who have a blog with a donation button. If you don't have one I would definitely suggest that you get one ASAP. See the left hand side of my website for an example of what I am talking about and looking for on your blog. Click here to get one of your own.
The giveaway starts now (11/25/09) and will end on December 31st 2009.
Feel free to post a comment below and let me know a little bit about your blog and tell me why you should be selected to recieve a piece of the $100 pie. Mention at least one thing you plan to do to reach back to inspire at least one person. Also let me know your one personal goal that you plan to work toward.
Many thanks to Judge Hatchett for inspiring me to do better and be better.
I will post an update listing all the winners after the contest has ended.

Hello My name is Ruby(not my first name.) I am a fashion student who blogs about my likes and dislikes in fashion and entertainment, and whatever else may be on my mind. I am currently asking for donations, towards my semester in New York City, I have just realized my financial aid is tapped out. And now I will be a starving student in New York next spring. I really need whatever anyone can donate towards my trip. ALso in terms of giving back I already mentor young kids, around my college campus to show them that college is possible. When I go home, I plan to go talk to girls in my high school about reaching for your girls, and that even though people may think that becoming an artist or fashion major is stupid, it's possible to be successful if you work hard at it. My ultimate personal goal when I graduate college is to bring back the arts in inner city schools, and one day start a real fine arts program in my hometown.
My personal goal for the next 5 years, is to graduate from college and give my dad my degree, because I believe that he his fighting his cancer to see me graduate.
(sorry it was so long, but I think this is a great idea)
Thank You,
Ruby

Hello :)
There are many people who read my blog and many who actually comment on it. My blog is to inspire, it's to let others they are NOT alone. I blog it like I live it. There's no other way around it. I don't hide what I am feeling, what I am going through and most of all what I want/need out of life. My five goal is to be happy. Sounds so simple right, but as you read it's a struggle to even maintain. I plan on finishing school and doing what I can do to help other kids/women in my shoes. I eventually wanna help women and children. Thank you for commenting. I know it takes time to do so and I appreciate the words you gave me more than you will ever know. It's like standing on the ledge and having someone pull you back. Does that make sense??Thank you once again
Hi,
My name is Jasmine and my blog is mob-xxi.blogspot.com! It's one of the many blogs I've created. I've always been into blogging, whether it was to practice graphic designing, vent, and or connecting with other blogger's and so forth. This blog started out as just personal but then I realized I wanted to voice my opinions on other topics such as music, entertainment, and of course fashion! It became a blend of everything.
I'll be returning to school for the Spring 2010 semester ,I attend Clark Atlanta University!! Majoring in Fashion Merchandising and Minoring in Business Admin. And any small amount helps. I had to take the fall semester off due to my financial aid not covering everything.
To be honest, I don't plan on returning home for any long period of time but I have became interested in joining big brothers, big sisters in my current city. I also want to encourage high school students to be interested in higher education and HBCU's not because it's what society suggest but what they are truly interested in.
A short term personal goal is to complete my Spring semester with at least a 3.0-3.5GPA to be more eligible for scholarships.
A long term goal over the next five years, would be to simply graduate college, knowing I've taking full advantage of my "best years." and being happy and loving myself for who I truly am.
Hey Latonya,
It's Melanie! I featured this post on my site and I'm a little disappointed at the few comments you have received of bloggers taking advantage of this wonderful opportunity. At first, I wasn't gonna participate because you helped me financially before and i didn't know if it would be fair to others if i entered myself in your contest but it's definitely worth a try!
A few things I plan to do to give back to others is by being a personal mentor. I am apart of Girl Scout Leaders of America and I lead a group of girls in the DC area once a week. We do arts and crafts, sing, talk about personal issues, and just have a good time. In the spring, we'll be going camping :) I'm excited lol.
I am also interested in becoming apart of my school's Student Recruiter program where we go to highschools and talk with students about the importance of attending college and getting a degree. I try to do whatever I can to help others whether it's by personal mentorship, or just by being a good listener.
One of my personal short term goals includes getting a 3.5 or higher this semester. Throughout my college career, I've never received any gpa over a 3.5 and that's something I really wanna work towards. I wanna shoot for a 4.0 but I'll be happy with anything over a 3.5.
A long term would be graduating from Howard, Spring 2011, with a career job already in place. So many students graduate and become jobless so I wanna work hard and make sure that doesn't happen to me.
Again, thanks so much for this opportunity! You are truly a blessing!
-Melanie
