Dear Health and Human Secretary
Kathleen Sebelius,
I just read a press release that stated the United States Health and Human Service office is offering a ten million dollar reward to grant seekers who will help the federal government find and help reach American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) children who qualify for, but are not yet enrolled, in Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP).
Could you consider having one of your program leader’s contact someone at the United State Department of Education building to ensure that each school system in America has a system in place for automatically enrolling children who meet the criteria in the CHIP program? I am sure that in turn the education system would be glad to assist with this $10 million project as our children are in dire need of a paradigm shift in the educational system of America. I mean it seems only logic to me that we know that it is mandated that children attend school or the parents go to jail. I am sure that many of the children that you are looking for can be found in the school system. For the children who are homeschooled I am sure that those parents can be easily contacted by the state’s homeschooler association. I am sure that these associations ensure parents receive a notice of all the rigorous rules/regulations/requirements that have to be met to say that their child is actually meeting the annual criteria to graduate from the home schooling process.
Once again, I believe that every child that attends any school in America should be automatically enrolled in the Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP). I am sure that the school systems have a system in place for understanding which students qualify for reduced/free lunch. That is the process that can be used to process these applications for the CHIP program.
This would save the American tax payer (me!) $10 million dollars that would have otherwise gone out in the form of grant money/paying a finders fee. A sure savings to the American public is a vote for another year in any office.
